A Space to Create – cheap studio space in Melbourne

Amongst the housing crunch, landbanking and the rush to turn unused commercial space into overpriced co-working offices, there are very few affordable spaces left for creative people to work.

Brimbank City Council are seeking applications from arts practitioners working within any of the arts disciplines (visual, literary, performing, media) looking for a creative space in a supportive arts environment. Artists who live in Melbourne’s west are encouraged to apply.

They welcome diversity and encourage submissions from First Nations peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people with disability.

Current vacancies:

  • Keilor Community Hub Studio: A shared studio space for two, located upstairs at the Keilor Community Hub.

Artists from all creative disciplines, including visual arts, writing, performance and media arts, are invited to apply for a shared studio space at Keilor Community Hub. The studio is available for $35.70 per week, including electricity and Wi-Fi.

Located on the first floor of the hub, the studio features natural and fluorescent lighting, carpeted floors, running water, secure after-hours access and onsite parking. Artists also have access to shared kitchenette and toilet facilities.

Artists based in Melbourne’s west are encouraged to apply, particularly those seeking an affordable and supportive creative environment.
